Barbara J. (Wagner) Boose, 78, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 29, 2025, at UPMC Hanover Hospital. She was the loving wife of the late Richard A. Boose, with whom she shared 50 years of marriage before his passing in 2015.

Born on July 14, 1947, in Huntingdon, PA, Barbara was the daughter of the late Frederick R. Wagner and Evelyn (Wilson) Wagner-Golay. Her father passed away when she was just five years old.

Barbara was raised in Huntingdon and moved to Hanover, where she met the young man who would become her husband. The two were married in 1965 and began their life together in Hanover. Barbara worked at Sylvania Shoes until around 1980, when she chose to dedicate herself full-time to raising her family. She lovingly cared not only for her own children but also for many children in the neighborhood.

A woman of deep faith, Barbara was known for her kind heart, her gentle wisdom, and her unwavering devotion to God. She was always ready to listen and offer sound, Bible-based advice to anyone in need. Barbara found great joy in cooking and canning, as well as playing board games and working puzzles-especially when surrounded by her grandchildren. Above all, she cherished her faith, her family, and the simple blessings of life.

Barbara is survived by her two children, James Boose of Hanover, and Zannette Mummert and her husband, Brian, of Hanover; seven grandchildren, Steven, Isaac, Kelsie, Troy, Seth, Jared, and Nicole; and four great-grandchildren, Jon Jr., Brantley, Faithlynee, and Rhett. She is also survived by her siblings, Chuck Wagner of Lisbon, ME, Dan Wagner of Gettysburg, and Mary Schmidt of Reedsville, PA; along with many loving extended family members and dear friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, Barbara was preceded in death by her siblings Bruce Wagner, Merle Wagner, and Alta Soucy, as well as her daughter-in-law, Wendy Boose.

A service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at Harvest Chapel, 6947 York Road, Abbottstown, PA, with Pastor Don Wolabaugh officiating. A time to share memories and visit with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, November 3, 2025, at Wetzel Funeral Home and Crematory, 549 Carlisle Street, Hanover, and again on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in New Oxford Cemetery, New Oxford.

Pallbearers will be James Boose, Steven Boose, Isaac Boose, Troy Boose, Jared Mummert, and Jon Elazouni.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Barbara's memory to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 6704, Hagerstown, MD 21741.
