Barbara Boykin Obituary
Funeral service for Barbara Jean Boykin, age 81 of Point, Texas will be held at 1:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 17, 2024, at Wilson-Orwosky Chapel. Officiating will be Reverend Byron Houck. Interment will follow at Donelton Cemetery with Brandon Roberts, Kayden Roberts, Seth Roberts, Marcus Hargrove, Casey Hargrove and Dennis Cason serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Lonnie Boykin. Visitation for Ms. Boykin is Monday, September 16, 2024, from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm, at Wilson-Orwosky Chapel. Ms. Boykin passed away on September 13, 2024, in her home in Point, Texas.
Barbara, known to her students as “Ms. B,” was born in Dallas County on May 3, 1943, to Noel Aderholt and Vallie Cummings. She married Jimmy Boykin in 1962 and never left his side. She worked as a substitute teacher. She earned the love and respect of everyone in the community. Barbara enjoyed sewing, crocheting and painting. She was easy going and loved flowers, specifically gardenias. Her greatest accomplishment was her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her son, Lonnie Boykin; daughters, Kim Hargrove and husband Kevin, Michelle Gordon and husband Kenneth; grandchildren, Krista, Brandon, Marcus, Nicki, Seth and wife Karli, Casey and wife Whitney; great-grandchildren, Kayden, Ryleigh, Gannon, Henli and Emma; and brother, Noel Aderholt.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Noel and Vallie Aderholt; husband, Jimmy Boykin, and sister, Patsy.
