Case & Company Funeral Directors - MackinawOur beloved sister, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, Barbara Marie Brody (Gerskin) passed into life eternally with her heavenly father on February 2, 2026, at the age of eighty-one. She was born to Esther (Theer) and Robert Gerskin. In 1965, Barbara married Clarence "Duke" Brody.
Barbara is survived by her children James (Kelley Schultheiss) Brody, his son Nicholas Brody, Carolyn (Tellis) Everett, her children Keefe, Kobe, and Lane Siler. Barb is also survived by her siblings, John (Linda) Gerskin, and Lori (James) Neumeyer, Duke's sons Craig (Jane) Kaplenski and Mark (Cindy) Kaplenski, along with several nieces and nephews.
Barb was a lifelong member of St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in Bridgeport where she served her church and Lord in many capacities and where she leaves behind many dear friends. Barb graduated from Saginaw High in 1962 she then worked for multiple insurance companies, a law office, and Bridgeport Charter Township until her retirement in 2011.
Barbara was preceded in death by her husband Clarence in 1994, her parents, Esther in 1990 and Robert in 1993, her in-laws, Pearl and Earl Brody in 1970, and special cousin Millie Kiebel Andros in 2019.
A celebration of life service with take place at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, 6065 King Road, Bridgeport, MI 48722, on April 11, 2026 at 11:00am. Pastor Diane Sponheim will officiate. Friends are welcome to visit with the family on the day of the service from 10:00am until the time of the service at the church. In keeping with Barb's wishes, cremation has already taken place.
Those planning an expression of sympathy may wish to consider memorial donations to St. Matthew's Lutheran Church, Bridgeport in honor of Barbara Brody.
