FORT WORTH - Barbara Lou Brown, 79, passed away peacefully on June 24, 2024.
Graveside Service: 1:00 p.m. Monday, July 1, 2024, at Greenwood Memorial Park.
Barbara was born on July 26, 1944, in New Orleans, Louisiana and relocated at a very young age with her parents to Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey. She met her life-long husband Jim from Leonardo, New Jersey and married in 1964 and resided in Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey.
After the birth of their two sons James and Michael, they relocated briefly to Reading, Pennsylvania for three years until returning to North Plainfield, New Jersey. In 1978, the family moved to Carrollton, Texas for one year and then to Fort Worth, Texas in 1979 where she resided at the time of her death.
Barbara was a stay at home mother until her sons graduated high school. In 1991, Barbara founded Equipment Plus with her husband Jim before retiring in 2015. She was a member of St. Johns Catholic church for many years until she was physically unable to attend.
Barbara enjoyed vacationing, visiting casino's and horse racing. She also enjoyed reading and spending time with her dog, Tuffy; two granddaughters; and her family.
Barbara is preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Alice Elmer.
She is survived by her husband, James R. Brown Sr.; sons, Michael Brown and James R. Brown II and his longtime girlfriend, Michelle Harker; daughter-in-law, Amy Brown; and granddaughters, Andrea and Melanie Brown.
