Barbara Jean Brown

Barbara Jean Brown, aged 85, passed away peacefully on October 24, 2025, in Chester, SC. Born on December 6, 1939, in Spartanburg, SC, and raised in the Charleston area, Barbara was a loving mother, grandmother, and sister, cherished by all who knew her. She was also a wonderful cook, sharing many meals with friends and family over the years.

Barbara is survived by her brother Kenneth Emory of Boiling Springs; her sons Joe Allison, his wife Christe and their children Cody Wagner, Tyler Wagner, and Dana A. Whitener; James (Buddy) Brown, his wife Kim and their daughter Christian Roof; her daughter Rose Mary Grant and her husband Rick & their daughter Maddie Grant; and many special grandchildren and others she cherished. Special thanks to her granddaughter, Dana Allison Whitener, and Hospice of Lancaster & the Piedmont for their gracious care.

She was preceded in death by her father, Thomas James Emory; her mother, Mary Clytise Curry; her brothers, Thomas Wayne Emory and Charles W. Emory; and her sisters, Doris Alderman and Ailene Hester.

Funeral services for Barbara will be private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the Cool Branch Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to a charity of choice in memory of Barbara.
