Barbara Ann (Blum) Bucconear, 79, of Waymart passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon, October 18, 2025 at Wayne Woodlands Manor. Her husband, Alfred K. Bucconear survives her. They were married on October 18, 1980. Barbara died on their 45th wedding anniversary.
Born June 12, 1946 in Honesdale, she was the daughter of the late Lester C. and Charlotte R. (Spangenberg) Blum.
Barbara graduated from Waymart High School in 1964. She later attended the Nursing Career Academy in Washington D.C. Barb worked at the Wayne Bank in Waymart for many years. Prior to her retirement, she also worked at Ladore Lodge and Conference Center in Waymart.
Barb was a spiritual woman who was strong in her faith. She was passionate about gardening, baking, shopping, dining, live entertainment, and vacationing. One of her favorite places to visit was the beaches of Naples Florida. She loved spending time with her family. Barb was also blessed with wonderful friends, and she enjoyed them all so much.
She loved Christmas, and her delicious homemade cookies were made from her hands and her heart. Barb was known for delivering cookie platters to shut-ins in her town, as she found fulfillment in serving others. Her innate ability was to always put others first.
Her radiant smile, generous heart, and compassionate spirit were evident to all who knew and loved her.
Barb will be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend.
Barbara's family would like to acknowledge the excellent care and love that she received at Wayne Woodlands Manor where she resided for the past five years.
She is also survived by her daughter, Kelly Altemier and her fiancé Drew Stewart of Naples, Florida; her son, Jerry Altemier and his wife Lynn of North Carolina; her step-daughter Kelly (Bucconear) Marold and her husband Tim of Hawley; her granddaughter, Kristi Altemier; grandson, Griffin Seales; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Lester C. Blum; and a sister, Yvonne Henneforth.
In accordance with Barbara's wishes a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
