Barbara Alida Pfluger Burke, age 80, passed away on Monday, March 2, 2026, at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on June 3, 1945, in Hoboken, NJ and had lived in Reidsville most of her life.
She leaves behind a legacy that is sure to be cherished by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Barbara dedicated 25 years of her life to her career at BiLo, where her hard work and determination were evident.
Known for her feisty and blunt personality, Barbara was someone who expressed her love openly and wholeheartedly. Her family and friends knew this was her unique way of showing she cared deeply. A devoted mother and grandmother, she enjoyed spending quality time with her children and grandchildren, which brought her immense joy.
Barbara was an avid supporter of the Georgia Bulldogs and found great pleasure in activities like going to the river and the beach. These pursuits brought her life’s simple joys, creating countless memories that will be cherished by her loved ones.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Frances Pfluger, her husband of 47 years, Donald James Burke, Sr.; and a brother, Frank Pfluger.
Barbara is survived by her children, Todd Thompson, Donald J. (Casey) Burke, Jr., Stacey (Leo) Dominguez; sister, Marion Edna (Lou) Sokol; sister-in-law, Peg Pfluger; grandchildren, Jordan Ryals, Trey Burke, Kristie Morgan, Matt Coleman, Clay Thompson, Madison Thompson, Tiffany Liebl, Travis Sanders, Tracy Sanders, Gracie Burke, and Tucker Burke; great grandchildren, Kennedi and McKinley Burke, Haden, Braden and Hadley Morgan, Riley and Nolan Coleman, Owen and Haley Liebl; also survived by many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, March 8, 2026, beginning at 1:00pm with the funeral services to follow at 2:00pm with Rev. Bryan Anderson officiating. Internment will be held 10:00am Monday at the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery.
