Barbara Buttke

Barbara Buttke, 83, peacefully died at Bethany on 42nd on October 30, 2025.
Barbara Jean Westlund was born January 31, 1942, in Hawley, MN, to Veretta (Riedberger) and Carl Westlund. She was raised in Moorhead, MN, and graduated from Moorhead High School. Barb married Steven L. Olson, and they had one son, Steven M. Olson. Later, she met Ronald Buttke, and they had one son, Darren Buttke.
Throughout her life, Barb had several jobs. She worked at American State Bank in Moorhead before marrying Ron. She then worked at St. Luke's Hospital before going back into banking. She worked at Union State Bank in Fargo and then State Bank (now Bell Bank) in Fargo, before retiring in 1999.
Barb had several hobbies that worked well with her feisty character. She loved to ride bike and work in her flower garden. She was also known to keep an eye on everything happening in her neighborhood. She loved to visit with anyone willing. Most of all, Barb loved spending time with and doting on her grandchildren.
Barb is survived by her two sons Steven (Sara) Olson of Mesa, AZ, and Darren Buttke of Fargo, ND; grandchildren Zachery (Christine) Olson, Bradley Carlsen and Tyler Olson; great-granddaughter Grace Olson; and siblings Carol Brock of Fargo, ND, Carl (Lisa) Westlund of Springfield, MO, and Geri Mjoness of Fargo, ND.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Carl and Veretta Westlund and her husband, Ronald Buttke.
Visitation: November 5, 2025, one hour before the service at West Funeral Home, West Fargo, ND.

Burial: St. John Cemetery in Embden, ND
