Barbara Ann Castello, 89, passed away on Monday, November 25, 2024, in Stevensville, Michigan.
Barbara was born on September 6, 1935 in Robinson, Illinois to the late Carl Willis Henry and Cleo (Wiman) Henry.
Along with her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her loving husband, Joseph D. Castello; grandson, Corey Cranmer; son-in-law, Bruce Zech, and sister, Doretta Ditsch.
Left to cherish the memory of Barbara are her children, Carol (Joseph) May, Patricia Zech, Jay (Donna) Castello, Becky (Rick) Zichterman, Dan (Lori) Castello, and Bill Castello; 14 grandchildren, and 19 great-grandchildren.
A beacon of joy to all who knew her, Barbara reveled in the sweet melodies of country music and found solace in the pages of countless books. Her passion for camping and traveling was a testament to her adventurous spirit, often finding her happiest moments under the stars or exploring new horizons. Barbara's hands nurtured the earth as she tended to her garden, yielding both beauty and sustenance, truly reflecting her nurturing nature.
Moreover, her unique collection of rooster memorabilia echoed her appreciation for the simplicity and beauty of farm life. Above all, Barbara was steadfast in her love for her family, embracing both quiet moments and grand celebrations with equal delight. Her profound love for nature, wildlife, and the outdoors will continue to inspire, as her memory blooms eternal in the hearts of those she adored.
Visitation for Barbara will be on Tuesday, December 3, 2024, from 10:00am to 11:00am with a Funeral Service to be held at 11:00am at Brown Funeral Home, 521 East Main St. Niles, MI 49120. A Graveside Service will be held at 2:00pm on December 3, 2024 at Fort Custer National Cemetery, where Barbara will be laid to rest next to her loving husband, J.D. Castello.
Memorial contributions in honor of Barbara may be made out to Hanson Hospice, 4025 Health Park Ln, St. Joseph, MI 49085.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Brown Funeral Home.
