With her loving family at her side, Barbara (Holbrook) Curtin of Quincy (formerly of East Weymouth), passed away on January 5, 2026 after a long illness.
Born on December 19, 1933, Barbara spent most of her life in East Weymouth, MA. After graduating in the Class of 1951 at Weymouth High School where she excelled in sports, Barbara went on to a career in banking.
In the 1950s, she met the love of her life, Thomas Curtin, and they wed in 1959, going on to have three devoted children,
Barbara was predeceased by her husband of 62 years and her sister Constance Marra. She is survived by her three children, Barbara Graceffa and her husband Philip, Thomas Curtin and his wife Deborah, and Carole Corthell and her husband Bruce, as well as three grandchildren, Samantha Thibault and her husband Michael, Thomas Curtin and his financée Alana, and Haley Corthell, and her great-grandson Wesley Thibault. She was most proud that her children raised wonderful families, too.
Barbara dedicated her life to being a wonderful, thoughtful mother and grandmother. She excelled at both and was the foundation of her family, through and through. She was an excellent role model, always knew the wise thing to say, never missed a special date, and believed in the importance of higher education, a privilege her family could not afford for her. Whether it was assisting her children through college, attending their sporting events or school plays, or caring for her grandchildren, she was a constant devotée.
She was a passionate gardener and when she wasn’t filling her home with warmth and kindness, she could be found doing crafts, playing bingo, and enjoying events at the Weymouth Senior Center. She embraced life with a giving heart and generous spirit. She was a good friend and an inspiration to those who knew her.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to greet the family during the visiting hours on Monday January 12, 2026 from 10:30-11:30AM in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home EAST WEYMOUTH at 3 Charles Street (corner of Charles & Middle Street).
