Barbara made the peaceful journey to her heavenly home on August 24, 2024, while living at the Montgomery County Nursing Home. She was born in Blakely Arkansas, in Garland County, on August 12, 1937, to Delmar (Jake) Loyd and Olive Melton Loyd. She retired from Bank of America where she spent many dedicated years. Barbara loved life, gospel music, a good joke, and always had a smile and hug for everyone, whether they asked for it or not. She felt that her mission at the nursing home was to lift the spirits of all and witness of her faith in Jesus Christ.
She is predeceased by her parents; her two sisters, Beverly Loyd, and Betty Loyd; and her two spouses, David (Dude) Davis and Joseph Shaw.
She is survived by her sons, Rick Davis (Denice) – of Hot Springs, Ar., and Sonny Davis (Christy) – of Hackett, Ar.; a sister-in-law, Melva Morey (Marlyn) – of Moab, Utah; she leaves behind granddaughters, Drew Nicole Davis of Navarre, Fl., and Jessica Haley Campbell (Jacob) – of Hackett, Ar.; grandsons, Jarred Davis (Megan) – of Maumelle, Ar., Marc Davis (Sonya) – of Madison, Ms., Jake Davis (Kelsey) – of Hackett, Ar., CW Alexander (Erica) – of Hackett, Ar.; as well as great-granddaughters, Emma Davis and Kaitlyn Hurtt; great-grandsons, Scout Davis, and Carson Davis, Tucker Davis, Turner Davis; including numerous nieces and nephews.
The funeral service will be on Saturday, August 31, 10:00 am at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel, located at 2205 Airport Rd. Hot Springs, Ar. with Bro. Scott Bates officiating. Interment will follow the service at Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be grandsons and great- grandsons.
Memorials may be sent to the charity of choice. The family would like to extend a very heartfelt thank you to her extended family: the administration and staff of the Montgomery County Nursing Home. Their loving care to both her and our family throughout the years is beyond belief.
The red rose is symbolic of our eternal love for our Granny Barb and the blood of Christ, our Savior.
