Barbara Norma Dean

Barbara Norma Dean passed away November 30, 2025.
Barbara was born May 17, 1940 in New London, the daughter of Louis and Etta Dean. She grew up in New London, enjoying summers at Ocean Beach.
She was a proud graduate of New London High School. She attended the University of Connecticut, earning a Bachelors of Science in Medical Technology.
Following her clinical rotation at St. Raphael's Hospital, she worked for Lawrence and Memorial Hospital until the birth of her first child. She spent many years as a homemaker, working in the family business, volunteering for her children's schools, the American Cancer Society, and Beth El Synagogue before returning to medical technology, working at Mount Sinai Hospital of New York City, Mount Sinai and Saint Francis Hospitals in Hartford, and Collaborative Laboratory Services. She was a member of the American Society of Clinical Pathologists and a lifetime member of Hadassah and Brandeis National Committee.
She is survived by her sister Marilyn, her brother Herbert, her children Daniel (Fryda), Sara (Wayne), and Stuart (Wera), and her grandchildren Amy, Jill, Annyka, and Stefan.
Funeral Service will be held on Sunday December 7, 2025 at 11:30 at the Thomas L. Neilan & Sons Funeral Home 12 Ocean Avenue New London, CT. Interment will follow in Beth El Cemetery, Groton.
