Barbara Dixon, 81 of Aledo, died Tuesday, February 3, 2026, at her daughter’s home with her family by her side. Memorial services will be Saturday, February 7th at 12:00 Noon at Trinity Presbyterian Church, Aledo. Visitation is 2 hours prior to services beginning at 10:00 AM. Private family burial will be in Buffalo Prairie Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Trinity Presbyterian Church or the Mercer County VFW Auxiliary. Speer Funeral Home, Aledo is assisting the family.
Barbara Kathryn was born on October 25, 1944, in Monmouth, Illinois to William & Irene (Johnson) Rush. After High School Barb was one of the Roller-skating waitresses at Deckers in Aledo. On December 3, 1964, Barb and William Bergen were united in marriage. Together they had 2 children, Danny and Diane. They especially enjoyed their motorcycle trips together. He preceded her in death on February 10, 1997. Barb then met and married Gary Dixon on January 22, 2000. They enjoyed traveling together, especially on bus tours. He preceded her in death on December 18, 2016.
Family was Barb’s entire life. She cherished the time spent with her children and especially her grandchildren. Barb and her siblings were inseparable, doing everything together from family dinners and trips to sporting events. She often shared her talent in quilting by making family members quilts. Barb worked for Quinns Grocery Store for over 20 years, then Jamboree Foods, lastly with Wal-Mart for over 15 years before retiring.
Barb’s memory will be cherished by her children and their spouses: Danny & Dawn Bergen and Diane & Bill Unsworth; grandchildren and spouses: Sarah & Kristin; Dylan & Joseph, Danielle & Jamie, Brody, Brynn & Austin and Jack; great-grandchildren: Lillian, Kaia, Eli, Michael, Aila, Naomi and Gideon; Siblings and spouses: Karen Engle, Susan & Buck Mizner, Kim Witt & Dean Leslie, Kelly & Randy Lane, Whitey & Mary Pat Rush, Jim Rush, Rick & Gail Rush and Jeff & Dee Rush. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, sisters, Carole Askew and Bev (Tab) Balmer and brother, Patrick Rush.
The family would especially like to thank Susie Mizner, Barb's sister, for the special care and companionship given to Barb these last few years.
