Barbara Doi Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 12, 2018.
It is with great sadness that the family of Barbara Doi (Barbara Lynn Imboden Doi) announces her passing on Sept. 12, 2018, her 67th birthday. Barb was born on Sept. 12, 1951, in Fremont, Nebraska. Her family moved to Whittier, CA in 1963 where she graduated from La Serna High School in 1969. She graduated from Cal Poly University, San Luis Obispo, with a BS degree in Home Economics and then completed her Dietetic Internship at the University of Iowa in the department of nutrition, becoming a registered dietician. She also received a masters degree in education from Cal Poly University, Pomona and a community college instructor credential. She served as Chief Dietician at St. Joseph's Hospital in Orange, CA for 10 years. She loved to travel and enjoyed trips throughout Europe, North America and frequently Hawaii. Quilting was her passion, and she has "blanketed" the family with beautiful quilts, as well as volunteering in the quilt ministry at her church. She was a great cook, and although always concerned about nutrition, she loved sweets and was an excellent baker. She maintained her Midwest roots throughout her life, valuing honesty, hard work, faith, family and friends. As a loving wife, fantastic mother, daughter, sister, and aunt, she will be missed greatly. She is survived by her husband of 37 years, James Doi, son Jeff Doi (Jessi), daughter Laura Doi, sister Jean Vraciu (Bob), brother David Imboden (Cathy), and mother Lois Imboden. She is preceded in death by her father, F. Richard Imboden. A celebration of Barb's life will be held on Sept. 29 at 11:00 am at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Carrollton, TX.
