Funeral services for Barbara A. Dorsey, age 83, of Stanton, Nebraska will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at New England Congregational Church in Stanton. Reverend Scott Frederickson will officiate, with burial in Stanton Cemetery.

Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church.

Home for Funerals-Stanton is in charge of arrangements.

Barbara died Friday, September 26, 2025, at Faith Regional Health Services in Norfolk, Nebraska.

Barbara Ann Dorsey, daughter of Robert and Helen Buffington, was born August 2, 1942, in Onawa, Iowa, where she grew up and attended school. She graduated from the University of Nebraska and went on to receive her master's at Wayne State.

On June 7, 1963, Barbara married James Dorsey in Onawa. The couple lived in Norfolk, Iowa, Lexington Kentucky, and Lincoln, before settling in Stanton. They had two sons, Matthew and Jon.

Barbara taught many students during the course of her career as a first-grade teacher in Stanton.

She was an avid traveler, visiting destinations such as Ireland, Scotland, Norway, and New York, to name a few. She was fond of cooking, playing golf, and enjoyed reading and sharing with others through a book club.

She was a long-time member of New England Congregational Church, where she volunteered for various committees over the years, and was active in the PEO.

Barbara is survived by her husband, Jim; son, Jon; daughter-in-law, Karen Dorsey; grandsons, Andrew, Brandon, Mitchell, and Benjamin; sister, Norma (Philip) Olson; sister-in-law, Ramona (Roger) Beisterfield; and brother-in-law, Jerry (Marilyn) Deal.

She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Matthew; brother, Bob Buffington; sister-in-law, Ginger Schneider; and brother-in-law, Jake Dorsey.
