Barbara (Bernardo) Doyle, a loving mother, grandmother, family member, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026, at the age of 73.
Born on October 15, 1952, in New Haven, Barbara lived a life defined by kindness, selflessness, and fun. She had the ability to make everyone feel welcome and valued, and she was often described as someone who would give the shirt off her back to help another.
Above all else, Barbara adored her family. She was a devoted mother to Monica (Patrick) Kelly and John (Rebecca) Doyle, and a proud, loving grandmother to Tyler and Madison Kelly, who were the light of her life. She rarely missed a game or special moment, and her presence was a constant source of encouragement and love.
Barbara had a joyful spirit. Some of her favorite things were makeup, shopping, dancing, soaking in the sun, traveling, casino trips, cooking, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
Her laughter, compassion, and generous heart touched countless lives, and she leaves behind a legacy of love that will never be forgotten.
She is survived by: Josephine Bernardo, Annette (Mark) Lamano, Alma Germe, John Bernardo, and the father of her children, Mike Doyle. She was preceded in death by John Bernardo, Louis Bernardo, and Joanne Bernardo.
Prior to retiring, she served the City of West Haven as Executive Assistant to Mayor Borer and then Registrar of Vital Statistics in the town clerk's office, while also working as a real estate agent for more than 30 years with Beazley Real Estate and later Property World.
A celebration of Barbara's life will be held on January 9th, at 3:00pm at West Haven Funeral Home. Flowers will be accepted.
Barbara will be deeply missed and forever remembered for the love she gave so freely to all who knew her.
