Barbara Ann Drayton, 80, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2024, in her home. She was born in Georgetown, a daughter of the late John Edward Drayton and Sallie Jeanette (Fenters) Drayton.
Barbara was a bookkeeper in the insurance industry and for Butler True Value Hardware. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Georgetown, and formerly Rutledge Memorial Baptist Church for 40 years. She has been active with Vacation Bible School, Preschool, Missions, the choir, and various committees. She enjoyed reading and has volunteered with the Coastal Center for Disabled Children for 20 years.
In addition to her parents, Barbara is predeceased by two brothers; John Franklin Drayton and Wylie Edward Drayton, one sister; Janice Rebecca Drayton Phifer, paternal grandparents; Burgess Anderson Drayton and Margaret Elizabeth Pritchard Drayton, maternal grandparents; Frank Fenters and Beulah Rebecca Forbes Fenters Vaughn, and her step-grandfather, John W. Vaughn.
Barbara is survived by two sisters, both of Georgetown, SC: Margaret Estelle Drayton Oliver and Dorothy Virginia Drayton Lambert. Also left to cherish her memory are her nieces and nephews that she loved like children of her own; Jimmy Phifer (Laura), Edward Drayton, Donna Ware (Charles), John Drayton, Timmy O'Neil (LuAnn), Sheila Anderson (Johnnie), Mark Phifer, Barbara Ford (Ron), James Bredesen, Susie Floyd (Timmy), Christy Martin (Chad), Melissa Ulmer (Ben), Allen Oliver (Amanda) and Brian Phifer (Carla).
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, December 12 in the First Baptist Church of Georgetown, with Rev. Keith Wall officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service in the church Fellowship Hall.
The Downtown Chapel of Mayer-Ethridge Funeral Home and Crematory is serving the Drayton family.
