LaGrange, IN - Barbara Ann Eberly, age 86, of LaGrange, passed away peacefully on Saturday, December 6, 2025, at her home with her family by her side. She was born on August 12, 1939, in Wawaka, Indiana, to Theodore R. and Mary Alice (Domer) Targgart. Barb was a 1957 graduate of Topeka High School and continued her education at Manchester College, graduating in 1958 with a focus in bookkeeping. Barb devoted much of her life to her career in bookkeeping. She served as the bookkeeper at Norris Trucking from 1991 until her retirement in 2022, earning the respect of her coworkers through her accuracy, reliability, and dedication. On August 12, 1961-her 22nd birthday-she married the love of her life, James Orland Eberly, at the Brethren Church of Wawaka. Together they shared a marriage lasting more than six decades. Barb was a longtime member of the Northeastern Indiana Steam & Gas Association, where she also served faithfully as treasurer for many years. Her involvement reflected her commitment to community and her appreciation for local history and tradition. Barb is survived by her husband, Jim; her daughters, Kristin (Terry) Enslen of Kimmell, Indiana, and Abigail (David) Wohlers of Bronson, Michigan; two grandsons, Dakota (Sarah) Enslen and Justin Green; and four great-grandchildren: Ava Green, Oliver Green, Amelia Enslen, and Olivia Enslen. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Ronald Targgart; and her nephew, Roger Targgart. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 10, 2025, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan Street, LaGrange, Indiana. Funeral services will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 11, 2025, at the funeral home, with an additional hour of visitation beginning at 10:00 a.m. Rev. Kenneth Weaver will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in LaGrange. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Barbara's honor to the Northeastern Indiana Steam & Gas Association or Parkview Home Health & Hospice.
