Barbara E. Frye, age 57 of Alexandria, died unexpectedly October 4, 2008 at St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood. She was born May 26, 1951 in Anderson. She was a part-time sales demonstrator for Elite Marketing, Inc. for the past 10 years. She was baptized in the Orestes Baptist Church, and was a 1969 graduate of Alexandria High School. She married John R. Frye on July 24, 1971. She was a former member of the Elwood Eagles Lodge Ladies Auxiliary where she had been selected as Eagles Queen, and had worked as bartender at the lodge. She was also formerly a member of the “Channel Hawks” C-B Radio Club. She truly enjoyed her granddaughter and visiting her school activities. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and sister; and was well known for putting others first in her life.

Survivors include: Parents - Tom and Mary E. (Griffey) Richie of Elwood; Husband of 37 years – John R. Frye of Alexandria; Daughter – Shannon R. Frye of Alexandria; Sister – Betsy and husband “Bud” Shipley of Elwood; Granddaughter – Destiny Nicole Frye of Alexandria; Special Niece – Brittany Shipley of Elwood; Special Nephew – Justin Shipley; and several other nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by: Maternal and Paternal Grandparents; Uncle – James Robert “Bob” Griffey; Aunt – Barbara Jean Griffey; Father-in-law – Robert J. Frye; Brother-in-law – Pagie Frye; and several other aunts and uncles.

Funeral Services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home in Elwood with Rev. Randy Murphy of Cornerstone Community Church in Alexandria officiating. Burial will take place in Forrestville Cemetery in Summitville. Visitation will be held from 2 to 8 PM Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Copher-Fesler-May Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Madison County Center for Domestic Violence through the funeral home. Online condolences – www.copherfeslermay.com.
