Barbara Gemme Obituary
Barbara was born in Worcester, Massachusetts on September 26, 1937. She earned a Bachelors in English from Anna Maria College, and a Masters in English from State University of Massachusetts (Worcester). Barbara worked as a Librarian at the Cora J. Bolden Public Library in Rocky Hill, Connecticut. She was an avid reader, loved the English Language, her family, and was proud of her Irish heritage.
Family members include a son, Patrick Gemme (Angelina); granddaughter, Lillian Belle Gemme; sister, Kaye DeLaney and other loving family members. She is preceded in death by her parents, James and Catherine Riordan, her sister, Mary Riordan, and her daughter, Carol Gemme.
The memorial service will be held Friday, July 19, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. in the chapel of Thomas Poteet & Son with Fr. Solomon Kanaan officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in St. John's Cemetery in Worcester, MA. The family will receive friends prior to the service from 10:30 A.M. until the time of the service and again following the service, at the home of Patrick and Angelina Gemme.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Rocky Hill Public Library, Cora J. Bolden Library, 33 Church Street, Rocky Hill, CT 06067.

Barb became my bff over 80 years ago. My parents lived on Richmond Ave. in Worcester, just two houses from her family on Lull St. We remained pals through the years and even when I left for college, we stayed in touch. Barb was a regular at our kitchen table to share a pot of tea and experiences. I was honoured to be a bridesmaid at her wedding. After my husband and I moved to Canada in 1968, we remained in touch and each of us remembered to mark the other´s birthday with a phone call. Suddenly my phone calls went unanswered and cards were returned with a NOT AT THIS ADDRESS stamp. Today I just googled her name and saw that she passed away just last month. She will always remain in my heart and represent my childhood in Worcester. She was like a sister to me and another daughter to my dear mum. I treasure those memories and her friendship. I am sending a special hug to her sister Kaye, also a part of those memories!
