Barbara Jane Hallenborg, age 92, entered into rest on Sunday, August 11, 2024 at Apple Rehab in Watertown with her loving family by her side. She was the devoted wife of the late Ernest J. Hallenborg Sr. for almost 60 years until his passing in 2010. Barbara was born on December 20, 1931 in Waterbury, daughter of the late George and Esther (Gordon) Truelove.
Barbara was raised in Waterbury and met her “soulmate for life” in high school, Ernest Hallenborg. Together they shared many memorable years, starting their family and raising 3 sons and one daughter; and later enjoyed trips to the casino. Barbara worked for Timex as an assembler, but her most rewarding career was caring for her husband, children and grandchildren. She was content taking car rides with her son and daughter-in-law, watching ‘Wheel of Fortune’ and celebrating every holiday and birthday with her grandchildren.
She is the beloved mother of Ernest J Hallenborg Jr. and his wife, Charlene; and Linda Hallenborg, all of Waterbury. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Ryan Hallenborg and Charlotte McCaffrey; her cherished great-grandchildren, Alaina, Stephanie, Christopher and Samantha; her brother, Robert Truelove and his wife, Maureen of Goshen; her sister, Ethel Carpenter of Enfield; and several loving nieces and nephews. Barbara was predeceased by her sons, Richard and Thomas Hallenborg; and her brothers, Richard, “Ike” Edward and George Truelove.
Her family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to the caregivers with AccentCare Hospice and to the staff of Apple Rehab for the exemplary care and compassion that they provided to Barbara for her stay with them.
Barbara’s funeral services will be held privately. Memorial contributions may be made to Whiskers Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 367, Southbury, CT 06488 or by visiting www.whiskerspetrescue.org.
