Barbara Jean Hayhurst, cherished mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on April 16, 2025, in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Born on December 25, 1937, in Sapulpa, Oklahoma, she was the daughter of William and Ethelee Jones. Barbara grew up in a loving home and graduated from Rogers High School in Tulsa in 1956.
On December 22, 1956, Barbara married Jessie Hayhurst in Tulsa, embarking on a journey filled with love and shared dreams. Together, they created a beautiful life, initially residing in California and Tulsa before settling in Skiatook in 1969. Their marriage, which lasted until the passing of Jessie, was a testament to their devotion to each other and their family.
Barbara had a fulfilling career as a bank teller, working at Turley Bank, Peoples Bank, and F & M Bank. Her commitment to her work was reflected in her relationships with her colleagues and customers alike, as she was known for her kindness and dedication.
In her personal life, Barbara was a woman of many interests. She found joy in working in her yard, nurturing her garden, and cultivating beautiful flowers that brightened her surroundings. Additionally, she enjoyed sewing, creating handmade items that were cherished by those who received them.
Barbara will be deeply missed by her loving children: Patty York and Sherry Hayhurst. She was also the proud grandmother of six grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren, with whom she shared countless treasured moments. Her sister, Mary Jane Lovato, remains, along with a host of other relatives and friends who will hold her memory close to their hearts.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jessie Hayhurst, and her son, Timothy Alan Hayhurst. Barbara also mourns the loss of her brothers, Billy Lee Jones and Charles "Sonny" Jones.
A visitation will be held on April 20, 2025, from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Sien-Shelton Funeral Home Chapel, located at 1000 South Lombard Lane, Skiatook, OK 74070. A funeral service honoring Barbara's life will take place the following day, April 21, 2025, at 2:00 PM at the same location.
Barbara Jean Hayhurst's legacy of love, care, and joyful spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew her. She leaves behind a rich tapestry of memories and a profound impact on all who were fortunate enough to be part of her life.
