Ms. Barbara L. "Aunt Baba" Herron

Barbara L. "Aunt Baba" Herron, 63, of Media, formerly of Scotia NY, passed away January 10, 2014 at her home. She was born May 17, 1950 in Schenectady NY the daughter of the late Robert T. and Ruth A. (nee Deffer) Herron. Barbara received her Masters Degree from Temple University, attended the Crane School of Music in New York and was a retired music teacher from the William Penn School District. Barbara loved music and her main musical passion was playing the trumpet. She was very revered and determined when it came to her trumpet lessons. Once, she did not have a ride to her lesson so she decided to walk the 4 to 5 miles. Also, she served as a mentor to many music teachers. In addition to her love of music she was also an avid Flyers hockey fan, enjoyed trips to Cape Cod Massachusetts, loved her cats and above all else loved spending time with her nieces. She is survived by her beloved longtime companion Michael Buglio; her dear brother Peter T. Herron (Sylvia); her loving nieces Kaitlyn, Victoria and Jennifer; her cousin Eric Hopkins (Joanie); and also survived by her three cats Emma, Toby and Buddy. Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation Thursday evening from 7-9pm at the Cavanagh Patterson Family Funeral Home, 43 E. Baltimore Ave., Media. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Friday 10am in the Church of Nativity B.V.M., 30 East Franklin St., Media (This is a Meet for Mass only. There will be no visitation Friday morning). Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Media.
