Barbara, (Tootie) Dihann Jhons-Butcher, daughter of the late Cecil R. Jhons Sr and Mary Ellen Jhons, was born on November 18, 1961, in Wilmington, Delaware and departed this life on December 2, 2024, at home in New Castle, Delaware, at the age of 63.
Barbara was the sixth child of eight. She was a graduate of Glasgow High School in Newark, Delaware. Tootie began her career in financial services with Mellon Bank and Bankers Trust. In 1992, Barbara became employed with the Delaware Department of Corrections, where she retired after twenty-five years of service.
Barbara enjoyed traveling, playing cards, reading the Bible, eating good food, and watching movies. Tootie was the first to arrive and the first to leave, she did not believe in staying anywhere too long. Tootie enjoyed the company of family, friends and good conversation.
Above all, Barbara was a loving and devoted mother. She always put her family first and strived to provide them with love, care, and guidance. Tootie was a woman of great strength, humor, and integrity. She is known for her loyalty, reliability, and selflessness.
Barbara was preceded in death by one brother, Jarrett Fisher, his living wife (Florine Fisher) (New York; parents, Cecil Jhons Sr and Mary E. Jhons.
Barbara leaves cherished memories with two sons, Antonio Jhons and Robert Butcher Jr (Delaware); one daughter, Andrea Gordon (Florida); four brothers, Stephen Fisher, Cecil Jhons Jr, Eric Fisher, Christopher Fountain (Ebony Fountain); two sisters, Hope Morgan, Dawn Watson (Eugune Watson); and a host of nieces and nephews.
