Barbara Johnson Obituary

Barbara Johnson
October 29, 1939 - December 8, 2025
Barbara Johnson, 86, of Flagstaff, Arizona, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2025. She was born on October 29, 1939, in Liberal, Kansas, and lived a life filled with love, adventure, and devotion to her family.
Barbara married Lee Johnson in 1967 in Izmir, Turkey, beginning a partnership that spanned nearly six decades. Together they lived in Germany, Spain, Turkey, England, and Belgium, where Barbara was both a teacher and homemaker, nurturing her family and enriching the communities around her. They later retired to Flagstaff, where she spent the next 30 years cherishing time with family and friends and devoting herself to her beloved English garden.
A master gardener, Barbara found joy in cultivating beauty and peace, and her love for friends and family was evident in every gathering, every story, and every quiet act of kindness.
Barbara and Lee raised four children and doted on nine grandchildren: Craig and Megan Johnson of West Springfield, Virginia, parents of Gavin and Kaya; Derek and Theresa Johnson of Gig Harbor, Washington, parents of Madeleine, Nathan, and Georgina; Jen and Jeff McGough of Tucson, Arizona, parents of Caitlin and Abby; and Gareth and Shannon Johnson of Papillion, Nebraska, parents of Gage and Tanner.
Barbara will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, gardening, antique stained glass, and her ability to make every place she lived feel like home. Her legacy lives on in the family she cherished, the friendships she nurtured, and the gardens she lovingly tended.
A celebration of life will be held in Flagstaff, Arizona, at a later date, where loved ones will gather to honor a well-lived life. In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations to Northern Arizona Hospice, 1501 South Yale Street, Suite 201, Flagstaff, AZ 86001, 928-779-9795.

Glad to be a friend and a neighbor of this great lady. She could turn a dry patch of land into an English garden.
