Barbara June Hatfield, age 78, passed away on April 28, 2024. She was born on the fourth of July in 1945 to John and Barbara (Allen) Millar in Kalamazoo, Michigan. She graduated from Comstock High School, class of 1963. Shortly after, she attended Beauty School and worked in a salon. She went on to marry Henry Hatfield on July 10, 1966. Their baby boy, Tommy, was born October 14, 1967.
June took care of everything at home with her son Tommy, while Hank was driving the truck. While at home, she did hair for friends and family, babysat for a select few, and supported NAC youth fundraising projects. A faithful choir member in the New Apostolic Church in Kalamazoo and Portage, she traveled to participate in District Choirs, including Detroit and Chicago- even though she didn't drive a car. June enjoyed dining out with family and friends on Sundays, watching sports on TV (College Football, Golf, Baseball, Basketball, etc.), movies like Sound of Music, and since she read the entire TV guide, Reader's Digest and lots of current events, she was great at trivia and word puzzles. She was most comfortable in the quiet of home with a good book.
June was a great travel partner. She was a wonderful navigator for road trips to visit the Kiel family out west, Hank's mom in New Hampshire, or a Florida trip, because she would always stay awake to talk with the driver. She traveled to Germany and Scotland and flew all around to accompany her Mom, Dad, Sister, Brother, Hank or Tom on many adventures.
June was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Sheila Millar and son, Tom Hatfield.
She is survived by her husband, Henry Hatfield; sister, Rose (John) Kiel; brothers, John Millar and Doug (Teresa) Millar, many nieces and nephews as well as many caring neighbors and friends.
A memorial service will take place on Wednesday, May 8 at 7:00 pm at New Apostolic Church of Portage, located at 3600 W Milham Avenue, Portage, MI 49024. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in June's memory to Centrica Care Navigators - Rose Arbor Hospice, 7100 Stadium Drive, Kalamazoo, MI 49009, or donate at the following secure link: Giving - Centrica Care Navigators
