Barbara June Freeman Junkins, age 92, of
Anderson, SC, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 8, 2025, at home.
Born November 27, 1932, in
Anderson, SC, she was a daughter of the late J.C. Freeman and Willie Vaughn Smith. She was also preceded in death by two daughters, Sandra Jo Junkins and Julie Ann Junkins Sanders and her husband Brad Sanders; and sisters, Betty Pilgrim, Peggy Tannery, and Janith Acker.
Barbara was a graduate of Girls High and was formerly a legal secretary for several law firms in Anderson. She was also the owner and operator of Upper State Title Corp. Affectionately known as "Nana" by all who knew her, she had a servant's heart and lived a life of sacrifice; always helping and encouraging others. She lived out John 15:13 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother who took joy in doting on her family. She was a faithful follower of Jesus Christ and a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church.
She is survived by her beloved husband of 75 years Ansel D. Junkins; son, Michael Dean Junkins (Essie); grandchildren, Scott Junkins (Erin), Russell Junkins (Blaire), Ansley Farrington (Joey), Holly Howard (Guy), Haley Lasley (Tommy), and Joe Sanders (Ana); great grandchildren, Madysen Brissey (Jonathon), Carleigh Hargrave (Owen), Cooper and Collins Junkins, Brantley, Jacob, Elias, Luke, Brooks, Sanders, Bradley, and Bryce; and great-great grandson, Barrett.
The family will receive friends on Friday, October 10, 2025, from 12:00-1:30 pm at The McDougald Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 pm in the Chapel with Rev. Ken Wright and Rev. Joey Farrington officiating. The committal service will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dr. Matthew Danuser officiating.
Flowers will be accepted. Barbara had a great love for the wellbeing of all children, and her family suggests memorial contributions be made to Calvary Home for Children, 110 Calvary Home Circle,
Anderson, SC 29621.
