Barbara Ann Kirkland, a beloved matriarch, passed away peacefully on November 20, 2025, in Sherman Oaks, California. Born on August 8, 1937, in Rockingham, North Carolina, Barbara dedicated her life to creating a warm and inviting home filled with love for her family and friends.
Barbara's nurturing spirit shone brightly in everything she did. She was devoted to her loved ones, ensuring her home was always a sanctuary of comfort and joy. Her kindness and caring nature left an enduring impact on all who had the privilege of entering her home.
She is survived by her two loving sons, Wade Eugene Kirkland, known affectionately as Gene Kirkland, and his wife Ann, residing in Valley Village; and Jeff Kirkland and his wife Monica, of Murrieta. Barbara cherished her grandchildren: Cassidy Kirkland, Smith Kirkland, Braden Kirkland, Wade Kirkland, and Channing Kirkland, all of whom further enriched her life with their laughter and love.
Barbara is also survived by her cherished sister, Kay Mabe, and her husband Kent, from Ellerbe, North Carolina.
Barbara was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Kirkland, whose memory remained a guiding light in her life. She was also preceded by her sisters, Helen Hollingsworth and Betty Sue, her brother, Charles Hollingsworth, and her parents, W.C. Hollingsworth and Edith Hollingsworth.
The legacy of Barbara Ann Kirkland is one of warmth, love, and devotion, leaving a lasting imprint on the hearts of her family and friends. She will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by all whose lives she touched.
