Koziol, Barbara R. Age 92 of Allen Park. Beloved wife of 59 years to the late Edwin J. Koziol. Loving mother of Barbara A. Ralbovsky, Edwin M. (Sue) Koziol, Mark Koziol, and Diane (Paula Corkum) Koziol. Cherished grandma of Kathy, Michelle, Claire, Adam, Sophie, and Hannah.
Barbara had a wide variety of careers during her lifetime. Soda jerk at the Carmen Theater in Dearborn. Accountant at Penn Furniture. Catering assistant with some of the best Polish women in town. Within the family, Barbara was renowned for having holiday meals at 1 pm, followed by a second full meal at 5 pm. She loved to travel. A good trip to her meant packing a swimsuit and a roll of quarters for the swear jar. She had a love of swimming and was always ready to host a pool party in her backyard. Barbara loved spending time with her grandkids, helping them bake holiday cookies and dye Easter eggs. And they looked forward to raiding grandma's snack cupboard or locating nonpareil candies in her fridge. Of course, no one could open a present better than Barbara-she made sure the wrapping paper could be used again. And again. Barbara loved a good laugh and could laugh at herself, too. During her assisted living years she kept her fellow residents laughing by always ordering champagne and caviar, with a wink, at meal times. She was a kind-hearted person who will be deeply missed by many loving family and friends.
Visitation to take place at the Allen Park Chapel of the Martenson Family of Funeral Homes located at 10915 Allen Road, Allen Park, MI 48101 on Monday, August 30, 2021 from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A rosary will be held that same evening at the funeral home at 7:15 p.m. A Mass of Resurrection will be held Tuesday, August 31, 2021 at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church located at 9000 Laurence Ave., Allen Park, MI 48101. In State 9:30 a.m. Mass at 10:00 a.m. Inurnment will take place at St. Hedwig Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness Metro - Oakland, Wayne & Macomb Counties, PO Box 852, Northville, MI 48167 in Barbara's honor.
