Barbara Lannon Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Cappetta’s West Suburban Funeral Home & Cremation Services - Downers Grove on Sep. 19, 2025.
Early morning Tuesday, April 8, 2025, Barbara Ann Lannon, nee Sullivan, loving wife and mother of 6, doting grandmother of 10, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family after a short but hard-fought battle with cancer. She was 75 years old.

Barbara was born to Joseph and Ruth Sullivan on May 21,1949 in Chicago, IL. As an only child with many cousins, she decided at a young age she wanted a big family with lots of kids and dogs. Family meant everything to Barb, a belief she passed down to her children. As an avid traveler, she was always planning her next trip and finding new places she wanted to share with her children and grandchildren. She loved being outdoors whether it was hiking, kayaking, sitting by a fire pit, or relaxing in a swing. When not traveling, enjoying nature, or spectating her grandchildren's events, Barb could often be found at home, watching her shows on cable with her dog in her lap and her tablet in her hand where she'd be surfing animal rescue sites looking for another companion to add to her home. Barb will be remembered for her traveling spirit, her love of photography and capturing the perfect shot, her feisty political discussions and strong opinions, her generous charitable donations, and great love of family.

Barbara is preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Ruth Sullivan, her beloved aunts and uncles who played an integral part in her upbringing: Fran Modry, Margaret Barrett, and Bob Sullivan, and her husband Jerome Lannon as well as her father-in-law John Lannon and cherished mother-in-law Helen Lannon. She is survived by her 6 children: Kevin (Linnea) Lannon, Bethany Shaw, Katie Lannon, Keegan (Catherine Cannon) Lannon, Kiernan (Courtney Titus) Lannon, and Brianne (Jason) Patzer, her 10 grandchildren: Nathan, Emily, Gwyneth, Greta, Nicholas, Jack, Sullivan, Charlie, Riley, and Dylan, her adored dog Nelly, as well as many in-laws who became like siblings, cousins, nieces and nephews, and dear friends.

Visitation services will be held on Friday, April 11th, 2025, from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at Cappetta's West Suburban Funeral Home, 4920 Main St., Downers Grove, IL 50515.
