Barbara Larrimore Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Worthington Funeral Home - Chadbourn on Dec. 28, 2025.
Barbara Ann Bullard Larrimore, 89, entered into eternal rest on December 28, 2025. She was born May 1, 1936, in Columbus County, to the late Linton James Bullard and Maude Lee Bullard. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Betty Bullard Stewart.

She is survived by her two daughters, Dixie Lee Larrimore and Stacey Larrimore Williams (Heath) both of Whiteville; a granddaughter, Shay Greene of Charlotte; and a sister, Jackie Bullard Williams (Arden) of Newnan, GA; niece, Jennifer Culak.

Barbara dedicated her life to serving as an active member of the Columbus County Extension Organization where she was designated various roles since 1979. She held the titles of Columbus County President and the NC State President. She enjoyed the many hours spent with her friends and the volunteering that came with being an active member of this organization. She was able to judge the Columbus County Fair Arts & Crafts for many years in which she took great pride. She was an active member of the Columbus County Extension Quilter's Association also.

Barbara thoroughly enjoyed the Chadbourn Strawberry Festival and all that it entailed. She actively served as the chairman of the Strawberry Festival Foods Contest until her declining health would not allow her to continue. She was an active member of Woodmen of the World and enjoyed participating in the meetings and events that were always planned. Barbara was a member of Chadbourn Baptist Church. She enjoyed gathering with the Chadbourn Elderberries and the Seniors at the Senior Center. She spent many of her early years as a member of Corinth Baptist Church where she was a Sunday School teacher. She always enjoyed going back to the homecomings there.

Barbara loved her beautiful fur baby, a ragdoll cat named Willa. Willa provided companionship to her for the past nine years. Her daughters were her pride and joy. She cared for her oldest daughter, Dixie, until Dixie's health required her to become a resident at Shoreland Health Care & Retirement Center. Barbara enjoyed hearing Stacey talk about Crossroads Church and all that they were doing to build God's Kingdom. She enjoyed worshiping with her extended church family at Crossroads.

The family will receive friends 12:45-1:45 p.m. on Wednesday, December 31, 2025 at the Worthington Funeral Home Chapel.

A Celebration of Life service will begin at 2:00 p. m. on Wednesday, with Pastor Billy Roy officiating.

Interment will follow in Chadbourn Memorial Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Crossroads Church Building Fund c/o Stacey Williams, 87 Southwood Rd. Whiteville, NC 28472.

Special thanks to Samantha Green, who has been faithful and supportive through the years, and also special thanks to Lower Cape Fear LifeCare for their amazing care and support these past few months.

Barbara's death is a significant loss to me, her first cousin. Even though I live in Maryland, I often visited and always stopped by when traveling South. We kept in close touch by phone as well. I always marveled at the many crafts she would learn and produce beautiful items. I will truly miss my time with her.
