Barbara Linquist Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brusie Funeral Home - Chico on Mar. 29, 2025.
Barbara Linquist, of Chico, California, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in her home. Born in San Francisco, California, on February 1, 1951, to Louis and Nina Matteucci, Barbara grew up in Orland, California, with her older brother Michael and younger sister Carolyn. She graduated from Or?land High School in 1969 and then attended Chaminade College of Honolulu, Hawaii. Barbara was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend who touched the lives of everyone she met. She was married to her beloved husband Randy for 52 years, sharing a life filled with love, ad- venture, and countless memories. Barbara and Ran- dy spent 30 years in Willows, California, where they ran a cattle ranch and raised their children. Barbara was also a dedicated bookkeeper who was never truly able to hang up the balance sheet, as her me- ticulous nature and love for detail defined her work. Outside of her career, Barbara was an avid traveler, exploring the world with Randy by her side. Her pas- sion for adventure took them to countless destina- tions, from the beaches of Cancun and the streets of Europe to the jungles and deserts of Africa. Above all, she cherished the time spent with her children, grandchildren, and friends, always with an infec- tious laugh that could light up a room. A lifelong vol- unteer, she gave years of service to her community, including working with the CASA organization to ad- vocate for children within the foster care system. She also traveled with Randy to Vietnam for several years, volunteering with Rotary to help amputees and the local orphanages. Her love, laughter, and selfless spirit will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. Barbara is survived by her husband Randy, her sons Tim (Lynda) and Stephen (Marisa); her daugh- ter Shannon (Peter); her grandchildren Cody, Tyler, Fritz, Franko, Vera, Maggie, and Maxwell. The family will be holding private funeral services in the coming week. If you would like to honor Bar- bara's memory, the family kindly requests dona- tions be made in her name to the CASA program of Butte & Glenn Counties, a cause she was deeply passionate about during her nearly ten years as a dedicated volunteer. Contributions can be sent to NVCSS CASA, c/o Tina Wolfe, at 10 Independence Circle, Chico, CA 95973. Please note 'CASA Incentive Fund' in the memo line. Your support will help con- tinue Barbara's legacy of advocating for children in need. Arrangements are entrusted to Brusie Funeral Home.

I´m so sorry to hear of Barbara´s passing. She was such a sweet lady and a wonderful neighbor. I enjoyed she and Randy´s neighborhood parties. They were the best, kindest hosts!
May our Lord give Randy and their family comfort , peace and strength through this difficult time.
