SEABOARD, NC - Barbara Jean Hasty Jilcott Marks, age 82, of Faison's Old Tavern community, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, at her cherished home at Faison's Old Tavern in Northampton County, North Carolina. Born on March 5, 1943, in the same beloved county, she was a devoted daughter of the late Charles J. Hasty and Vageline Taylor Hasty.

Throughout her life, Barbara exemplified kindness and dedication to family, friends, and community. She began her career as a skillful seamstress, contributing her talent to companies in Seaboard and Weldon for many years. Later, she enjoyed a vibrant career in retail, where her warm personality was appreciated by all who came to know her.

Barbara's life was marked by a love for travel, often embarking on delightful bus trips with friends. She also found joy in the occasional gamble. A dedicated member of Galatia Baptist Church, she served faithfully as the WMU director and played an integral role in the West Chowan Baptist Association.

Her generosity knew no bounds; she was ever present for the community, assisting with doctor appointments and diligently delivering Meals on Wheels. Barbara had a special affection for her garden, taking great pride in nurturing her flowers to their fullest bloom.

A devoted family woman, Barbara treasured her grand babies, who were truly the apples of her eye. Always present at their events, she delighted in watching them engage in sports and any adventures life brought their way. She shared an unbreakable bond with her sister, Ethel, her constant companion.

Preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband George Buck Marks, brothers, William Earl "Scoot" and James Randolph Hasty, and a sister, Dottie Lee Hasty, Barbara's memory will forever be cherished by her surviving family. They include her son James "Jimi" Jilcott and his wife Angie of Conway; her first husband Bud Jilcott; cherished granddaughters Haley Jilcott of Conway, and Haven Jilcott and fiance' Aaron Chatt of Conway; step-daughter Theresa Lowe and her husband Don of Franklin, VA; step-grandson Michael Daughtrey and his wife Jana of Magnolia, NC and their children, Caydence and Gunnar; brothers, Charlie Ernest Hasty of Rocky Mount, Romie William "Whitie" Hasty of Seaboard, and David Curtis "Boogie" Hasty, Sr. of Conway; sisters, Ethel Marie Creech of Seaboard, and Mary Lucy Fillingame of Vanceboro, along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Barbara's life, with visitation on Friday, August 8, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM at Garrett-Sykes Funeral Service, Rich Square, NC. A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, at 4:00 PM at Galatia Baptist Church in Seaboard, NC, officiated by Rev. Justin Rose.
