Barbara Metz Obituary
OLEAN - Barbara J. Metz, 88, of Eden Heights, formerly of Cranberry Court, passed away Friday (Nov. 28, 2025).
Barbara was born Oct. 17, 1937, in Philadelphia, Pa., and was the daughter of Raymond P. and Alberta M. Miller Guzmon. She was formerly married to Dr. Edward A. Metz.
Barbara was a 1955 graduate of Lincoln High School in Philadelphia.
She worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad until she started her family. Later she worked for the Port Allegany (Pa.) School District and First National Bank in Port Allegany until her retirement.
Barbara was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church in Olean.
Barbara was an avid reader, enjoyed participating in Bible study, and playing card games such as, skip-bo and pinochle. She loved going to the beach but most of all, spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Barbara is survived by her three daughters, Donna A. Metz of Laurel, Md., Joanne M. (Harvard Charles "Skip" II) Hitchcock of Olean and Barbara A. (Clyde) Franklin of Papillion, Neb.; six grandchildren, Jennifer L. (Patrick) Spicer of Philadelphia, Jamie L. (Dustin) Molyneaux of Cypress, Texas, Tyrone C. (Whitney) Franklin of Omaha, Neb., Andrea R. (Crist) Lopez of Omaha, Gabrielle M. Franklin of Omaha and Jackie N. Hitchcock of Olean; and 11 great-grandchildren.
Barbara was predeceased by the love of her life for over 30 years, Burton E. Johnson; her parents; a great-grandson, Omari Lopez on Sept. 15, 2017; and four siblings, Doris Guzmon, Raymond Guzmon, Alberta Price and Joan Hibbs.
Friends will be received from 4 to 6 p.m. Friday (Dec. 5, 2025) at the Letro-McIntosh-Spink Funeral Home, Inc., 646 E. State St. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday (Dec. 6, 2025) at Bethany Lutheran Church, 6 Leo Moss Drive, Olean, where the Rev. Kim E. Rossi will officiate.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Olean Food Pantry at P.O. Box 446, Olean, NY; or to the St Stephen's/Bethany Lutheran Pet Food Pantry at 8 Leo Moss Drive, Olean, NY 14760.

Barb was family to many of us here at Cranberry Apts. We will miss here. A lot of us would eat together and play games together. She loved to play Mexican train. She loved our little dogs. Our thoughts and prayers are with her family. Please take care. Love, Cheryl Fleming and Mandy
