Barbara “Babs” Lynn Miller, 69, of Johnson City, Tennessee, and formerly Lakeland, Florida, passed away on Wednesday, February 12, 2025.

Barbara was born on March 12, 1955, in Dennison, Ohio, to the late Charles and Mildred Edwards Matheny. She graduated from Lakeland Senior High School and then earned her nursing degree. She worked as a nurse in cardiology for the duration of her career. She loved to watch football – especially the Denver Broncos, laying out in the sun at the beach or the pool, saltwater fishing, and two-step dancing with her friends on the weekends. Her entire world revolved around her children and grandchildren. She was very family-oriented—when she loved you, you knew it.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by several siblings, Sandy Matheny, C.R. Matheny, Dorothy Holmes, Kevin Matheny, and Linda Call.

Those left to cherish her memory include her children, Dale (Laura) Hampton and Angela Hampton; grandchildren, Chelsea Tucker, Alicia (Wesley) Hampton Truslow, Dylan Hampton, Jason (Shelby) Hampton, and Dustin Hampton; great-grandchildren, Eli Truslow, Nolan Hampton, Camden Hampton, Amelia Truslow, and Madilynn Hampton; siblings, Robert (Jane) Watson, Bruce Watson, Beverly Churchill, Dianne Whaley, Keith (Marilyn) Matheny, Pamela (Allen) Brown, Susan (Michael) Brown, and Paul (April) Matheny.

Barbara’s family will receive friends from 5:00-6:00 p.m. on Monday, February 17, 2025, at Morris-Baker Funeral Home. The funeral will immediately follow at 6:00 p.m. under the direction of Rev. Michael Brown. The funeral will be live-streamed and available to view on the website under her obituary page for 90 days.
