It is with great sadness the family of Barbara Alice Klint Money announce the passing of Barbara, their
beloved wife, mother, sister and grandmother. Barb was born in
Seattle, Washington, to Carl And Alice
Klint. Her early years were happily spent with her family who lived near Fauntleroy and Lincoln Park in
West Seattle. Barbie was doted on by mother, father and her two sisters. Among her first activities
was being wheeled to the beach, park pools and trails in a big baby buggy. These first experiences
atuned her to a life long love of trees, trails, beaches and a love of the outdoors.
Barb's family moved from Seattle to Sequim in the early '50's where her father became Chief of Police
and her mother, a registered nurse, worked at Olympic Memorial Hospital. She loved her Sequim home
where she excelled in many sports and music. Over her lifetime she became skilled at every activity she
decided on, among them: horse riding, tennis, swimming, biking, softball, hiking, and playing music with
the saxophone. She enjoyed all with enthusiasm. When a very young girl, she was given rides on her
sister's first horses: Dolly and Lightning. In her teens Barb bought her own horse, a beautiful buckskin
she named Shenandoah. She rode Shen for many years.
After graduating from Sequim High School, Barb married Dennis Schmith. The couple moved to
Marysville and Barb began her professional career working for The Boeing Company in Everett. Barb
and Dennis were blessed with a daughter, Denice. The marriage ended and Barb moved to Port
Angeles where she began work for Physicians Insurance company, first among the several companies
she enjoyed working for. Barb married Jim Money in 1972 in Port Angeles. Together they raised Denice
( Dee Dee) and purchased their first home on West 10th.
Later, after the family moved to Monroe Road they welcomed a second child, Joseph.
Barb decided to be a stay-at-home mom for several years. She pursued her love of horses and
purchased an Arabian gelding. She began dressage training with her sister. She showed her horse in
local zone shows for a time and eventually announced she was tired of washing her horse for showing.
She took up trail riding instead. She, her daughter, Denice, and sister Kathy spent happy times riding
trails. They especially loved riding at the Voice of America and Dungeness Spit.
Barb had worked for the Port of Port Angeles for several years and later after her children were older,
she decided she'd like a new career. She returned to college and earned an engineering degree from
Peninsula College. From there she started working for Clallam County, first as a cartographer, later
transferring to Clallam County Sheriff department. Her final work career was at Mathew's Glass from
which she retired. Barb gained a rich variety of skills and met hundreds of people during her work life in
Port Angeles.
Over her lifetime Barb enjoyed so many creative endeavors. She loved interior design and with help
from her husband grew beautifully landscaped gardens. She loved hiking with her family, camping, her
dogs, horses, music, and so much more.
After retiring, Barb and Jim moved to Four Seasons Ranch in Port Angeles where Jim still resides. In
addition to her husband, Barb is survived by her daughter, Denice Hansen ( Norm); son, Joe Money;
sister, Kathy Klint Smith; grandson Ryan Foley; and granddaughter, Darian Foley. She is predeceased by
her mother, Alice, her father, Carl, and her sister, Carolyn. Her family suggests honoring her life by
donating to Peninsula Humane Society, Volunteer Hospice or the Alzheimer's foundation.
