Barbara Munroe

HAVERHILL - Barbara (Albanese) Munroe, 88, of Haverhill, formerly of Merrimac, passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family on May 28, 2019, following a long period of declining health. She was born on August 15, 1930 in Haverhill, daughter of Albert J. and Mary (Monticelli) Albanese. After graduating from Haverhill High School, Barbara went to work at the shoe factories on Essex Street. She then worked for Western Electric and later Raytheon, where she retired. Barbara then worked part time in the cafeteria at the former Saint Joseph School and was a volunteer for years at the former Hale Hospital. Barbara was a parishioner of Saint Rita's Parish and then All Saints Parish in Haverhill. When she could no longer attend Mass, she would enjoy watching the daily Mass on the Catholic Channel. Barbara also enjoyed praying the Rosary with her friends in the nursing home. She loved to laugh and enjoyed shopping and traveling, especially to Aruba. But her favorite and most enjoyable times were with her family and children whom she cherished. Barbara loved hosting family get togethers, especially during the holidays. We will never forget the wonderful cookouts that we all enjoyed on her large deck overlooking Lake Attitash in Merrimac. Barbara's predeceased family members include beloved husband John; son Stephen LaMothe; son in-law Dennis Schoff; siblings Richard Albanese and Rita Skinner; and her late first husband Richard LaMothe. She is survived by her brother Robert Albanese and wife Margaret of Haverhill; children David LaMothe and wife Barbara from Atkinson, NH, Susan Florent and husband Peter of Haverhill and Donna Schoff of York, ME; grandchildren Jeremy LaMothe and wife Alyson, Greg LaMothe and wife Jaimie, Rick LaMothe and wife Kim, Andrew Florent and wife Emily and Joel LaVallee and wife Suzanne; and several great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be Tuesday, June 4, in the Driscoll Funeral Home, 309 So. Main Street, Haverhill from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Services will begin Wednesday morning in the funeral home at 10:00 AM. Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated in All Saints Parish, 120 Bellevue Avenue, Haverhill at 11:00 AM. Private interment in St. Patrick Cemetery, Haverhill.
