Barbara Opicka Obituary
Barbara was born on August 5, 1941, in Detroit, MI, a daughter of the late Edward Beatty and Virginia Wescott Heldt. She worked as a travel coordinator for American Public Power Association (APPA). To say she was an avid book reader would be an understatement as she read about 3 to 4 books a week for decades. Barbara was a member of the Friends of the Capon Bridge Public Library where she previously served as the Secretary. But her favorite titles that she held was mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Barbara married Dennis J. Opicka on June 26, 1965, in Toledo, OH. Dennis died on August 12, 2022. (H7)
Surviving are three sons: Todd A. Opicka and wife Aivelis of Capon Bridge, WV; Kirk E. Opicka and wife Diana of Ellicott City, MD; Darren J. Opicka and wife Carla of Unionville, VA; seven grandchildren: Danny, Ricky, Morgan, Carlos, Emily, Sofia, and Madison; and three great-grandchildren: Elijah, Valentina, and Pierce.
Barbara is preceded in death by two grandchildren: Kayla and Thor.
The family is planning a private celebration of Barbara's life to be held at a future date.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Capon Bridge Public Library, 2987 Northwestern Pike, Capon Bridge, WV 26711.
