Barbara A. Overholt, 85
Barbara A. Overholt, 85 of Ashland passed from this life on Friday evening, December 12, 2025 in her home.
She was born on July 21, 1940, in Ashland the daughter of the late Lester and Esther (nee Batterman) Shafer.
Barb graduated from Ashland High School, Class of 1958. Following high school, she furthered her education at Kent State University.
She married the love of her life, Larry Overholt, on May 15, 1960. Barb retired after more than 20 years from the Ashland Clerk of Courts office where she was a secretary and chief deputy for several years. In her earlier years, she worked as a private secretary to Judge Robert Henderson.
Barb was a devoted member of the Ashland Brethren in Christ and a former member of First Christian Church.
Throughout her life, she loved to decorate and make a beautiful home for her family. Most of all she loved her family.
Barb is survived by her loving husband of 65 years, Larry Overholt of Ashland; two daughters, Ann (Dave) Shaffernocker of Cooksville, Tennessee and Kim E. (John) Teeple of Fredericksburg, Virginia; five grandchildren, David (Chandler) Shaffernocker, Tara (Lucas) Ingram, Rachel (Caleb) Splawn, Morgan (Phoenix) DeSimone, and Zach (Brielle) Teeple; four great grandchildren, Reagan, Kennedy, and Lorraine DeSimone and Indy Teeple; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, Barb is preceded in death by one sister, Jane (Tom) Foster.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 18, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. in the Ashland Brethren in Christ Church, 2750 Mifflin Avenue, Ashland Ohio 44805 with Reverend Keith Tyson presiding. Interment will follow in the Ashland County Memorial Park. Friends and family may visit two hours prior to the service from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ashland Brethren in Christ Church of Gentiva Hospice.
