Barbara B. Pennell GREENVILLE - Mrs. Barbara B. Pennell, 90, passed away on Tuesday, December 16, 2025 at ECU Inpatient Hospice Center. The funeral service will be conducted on Monday at 11 AM in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel officiated by Rev. Jeff Manning. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park. A native of Pitt County, Barbara was born on March 16, 1935 to the late Henry and Essie Jackson Barrow. She worked as an Administrative Assistant for most of her working career at East Carolina University, retiring in 1998 with 20 years of service. She was a member of Unity Free Will Baptist Church where she was active in her Sunday School class for a number of years. Barbara will be fondly remembered by her family as a devoted wife and trusted friend who dearly loved her family and her church. In addition to her parents, Barbara was preceded in death by her husband, Jay Pennell in 2020. She is survived by Daughter, Vikki Heath Forbes and husband, Arthur, of Dillsburg, PA; Step-daughters, Katrina Cutter of Oklahoma City, OK and Gina Langston of Fountain, NC; Step-son, Chris Pennell and wife, Denise, of Raleigh; Sister, Peggy Gentry of Wrightsville Beach, NC; Grandchildren, Ryan Forbes, Scott Forbes, Brandon Cutter, Jayson Cutter, Alisha Gard, Victoria Pennell, AustIn Hall, Ashlee Neilsen; 12 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchildren.
