Barbara Jean Pfleger, 83, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2024, at Hospice Alliance in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin, after a year-long battle with lung cancer. Born on April 25, 1941, in Chicago, Illinois, to Anne and C.J. Quarders, Barbara resided in Somers, Wisconsin, where she lived a life filled with love, humor, and kindness.
She is survived by the love of her life, her devoted husband, Carl Pfleger. In addition to Carl, Barbara also leaves behind her beloved daughter, Jean (Greg) Carlson. Barb was preceded in death by her oldest daughter, Joan Leslie. She also leaves behind Carl's children, Tim (Gayle) Pfleger, Traci Pfleger, Todd Pfleger, Tami (Dan) Mielcarek, along with cherished grandchildren, Jamie (Brian) Carlson, Clint (Cassie) Carlson, Joshua (Katelyn) Pfleger, Samantha Pfleger and Jon Mazur. Barbara was blessed with great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and dear friends who will also miss her deeply.
Barbara had a lifelong love for animals and cared for many pets over the years. She found joy in watching and feeding birds and squirrels and delighted in creating hand-crocheted treasures, which she gifted to those she loved. Barbara and Carl shared countless adventures together, traveling the country on road trips filled with laughter and discovery.
Witty, sassy, and unafraid to speak her mind, Barbara's sharp sense of humor and candid spirit left an indelible mark on everyone she met. At the same time, she was generous with her time and love, always ready to help or brighten someone's day. Barbara's legacy is one of kindness, humor, and an unyielding love for family and friends. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
A private family gathering will be held to honor her memory. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local animal shelter in Barbara's name.
