Barbara Ann "Bobbie" Profozich passed away on March 11, 2026 in
Auburn, Alabama. She was 78 years old.
Bobbie was born on February 17, 1948, to Norbert and Gertrude Hock in
Millvale, Pennsylvania. She is the oldest of six children. As a youth, she excelled in studies and athletics. She played basketball, as well as track and field, and held school records in the high jump in track. She was also the head cheerleader. She met her husband on a blind date after a football game during her senior year in high school. Her husband, Alan, always said that the first thing he ever noticed that night was her beautiful long legs.
They fell in love, married in July of 1968, and began their lifelong journey together. It would last for over 57 years. They have two daughters, Lori Lynn and Jodi Lee, each born in Great Falls, Montana. As a military wife, Bobbie was the one who held the family together while Alan was often away from home performing his duties. Lori and Jodi became such wonderful, mirror images of their mother. Bobbie cherished her role as a stay at home Mom. She was there when they went to school and again when they came home. She tended to their needs, comforted or encouraged them as needed, and built an unbreakable lifetime bond with them. She attended every sporting event, dance recital, or any of the many other activities that the girls were involved in.
Bobbie enjoyed dancing and physical activities. She often took aerobic or dance classes. But her most frequent exercise was shaking her head and rolling her eyes at her husband's jokes and actions.
A woman of remarkable talents and boundless creativity, Bobbie found joy in crafting and woodworking. She was accomplished at both knitting and crocheting and shared this passion with her daughters and grandchildren. She used this talent most recently with her friends in the Parish ministry 'Comfort Weavers'. Together they made blankets, bonnets and other articles to provide to the home bound or others in need of comfort. Her mastery of the sewing machine was unparalleled. She could craft anything from clothing to intricate professional quality window treatments with precision and care. Bobbie also found an interest in woodworking. She skillfully made seasonal characters and scenes, painted them, and displayed them in the yard so that friends and neighbors could enjoy them throughout the year.
She had a unique, special and loving relationship with each of her five grandchildren. Becoming a first-time grandma to boys 30 years ago was a daunting task after raising two girls, but she quickly found her way and loved every minute. You would find her crawling through tunnels and playing in the dirt with dump trucks and back hoes, but she drew the line at climbing trees with her boys. She was then blessed with three precious granddaughters who lit up her world. She was a master at pretend play and dress up and you would often find her in the library, at a restaurant or in a classroom. The other joy she passed on to her girls was a love of baking. We will all reap the joy from this passion she passed down.
The foundation of her life and marriage was her faith in Jesus Christ and the Catholic Church. They moved numerous times throughout their working lives before retiring to
Auburn, Alabama. They became active in Saint Michael the Archangel Church and are blessed to have made many friends there. The Parish is led by two wonderful priests, Father Farmer and Father Gabe. Each of them guided and comforted her, especially in the most recent difficult times. The many ministries and individual parishioners provided ongoing love and support during the entirety of her terminal illness.
Bobbie will be remembered for her kind heart, warm spirit, loving nature, and wise counsel. Her presence enriched the lives of everyone fortunate to know her.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Norbert Hock, Sr and Gertrude Hock; her brother, Norbert Hock, Jr; and many beloved aunts and uncles.
She is survived by her loving husband, Alan Profozich; children, Lori Grubbs and Jodi Keller (Chris); grandchildren, John Alan Grubbs (Mary Frances), Jared Grubbs (Kacie), Katrina Williams (Clayton), Oliva Keller, and Quinn Keller; great-grandchild, John Charles "JC"; sisters Margaret Miller (Jim) and Bonita Schriver; brothers, David Hock (Linda) and John Hock (Mary); her devoted cat, Ghost, who was by her side through her illness; and many other loving nieces, nephews, friends, and family members.
May Bobbie's memory bring comfort to those who loved her deeply. Her visitation will be held at 10:00 am on Monday, March 23, 2026 in the St. Anne Room at St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church, 1100 North College Street, in Auburn; funeral mass will take place at 11:00 a.m. Then, entombment of her cremated remains will take place at St. Michael Columbarium, and a luncheon will follow in the Parish Hall.
A memorial mass will also be held in her hometown on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at All Saints Church, the church where Alan and Bobbie got engaged, located at 19 Wilson Ave.,
Pittsburgh, Pa 15223.
