A beautiful soul has left us today. Having suffered with many illnesses over the years, Barbara Jane Painter Rausch passed quietly through the veil in the early morning hours of August 22, 2023, returning home to her Father in Heaven where she was surely welcomed by the friends and family that had passed on before her.

Although she had battled health problems for many years, she remained bright and positive through it all and was an example of patience and strength to her family. She showed love and friendship to all around her and gave her time and effort to anyone who needed her. Barbara was a sweet lady, and she was loved by many. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knows her.

Barbara was born in Payson, Utah on October 2, 1944, to Vondell and Louise Kelly Painter. She was the youngest of three daughters and was her father’s little sidekick. It was from her “Daddy” that she developed a love of fishing; a lifelong hobby that brought her great joy.

Barbara attended Payson high school and then went on to study cosmetology. Shortly thereafter she met and married the son of one of her clients, Wayne Franklin Morgan Sr., who passed away in 1967. They had two children together, Wayne Jr. And JaNae. She had another daughter Carla Jane from her second marriage, who preceded her in death, along with her father Tom Augustus.

Later on, she met the love of her life and her eternal companion, Philip Douglas Rausch. They were married June 13, 1973 in Butte Montana. Their marriage was solemnized in the Provo Temple on November 11, 2006. They had many adventures together; from camping, fishing and dog trial contests when the kids were younger, to traveling together in a semi for Phil's work when the kids were raised. They always had fun together. They took many trips to Yellowstone, which she loved and once watched a space shuttle launch during one of their trips in the semi.

In her life, Barbara held many church callings for both ward and stake. She also served as a temple worker in the Provo Temple and as an adult leader on Pioneer Trek. Barbara also gave much of her time and service to genealogy and temple work and she loved family history. Additionally, she served as the Emergency and Preparedness Coordinator for the city and stake, where she developed a great passion for food storage. Barbara also served as the Yard Beautification Coordinator for Santaquin city.

Barbara had a great love for many hobbies. Among them were quilting, crocheting, sewing and gardening. Every year she took great joy in planting a garden so she could bottle preserves, fruit, pickles and relish for her family, a skill she learned from her mother. She also made the best Christmas candy around.

Barbara is survived by her husband Philip Rausch, son Wayne F. Morgan Jr. (Patti), daughter JaNae Morgan Huch (Todd), eight grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Von and Louise Painter, sisters Sherry Whitlow (Bill), and Marilyn Woods (Duane), daughter Carla Jane Augustus and her beloved dog, Lil' Abbie.
