Barbara Sue Richardson, born on January 10, 1951, in Madison, Jefferson County, Indiana, passed away on February 23, 2025, in Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. A beloved member of her community, Barbara was known for her extensive career in healthcare and her deep commitment to family and friends.
A proud graduate of Carroll County High School in 1970 and the Kentucky Baptist Hospital School of Nursing in 1973, Barbara made a significant impact throughout her professional journey. She worked at the former Baptist Hospital Northeast in La Grange, KY, where she worked diligently as a Med-Surg Nurse and then as a Quality Coordinator. Her dedication to nursing culminated in a career marked by compassion and excellence.
Barbara found great joy in her personal interests and hobbies, spending cherished moments with her grandchildren, tending to her flourishing flower garden, and indulging in her love of reading. Her life was a beautiful balance of professional fulfillment and personal happiness, creating warm memories for those around her.
Barbara’s strong sense of community was reflected in her active membership at the English Christian Church, where she shared her faith and supported others throughout her life.
She is survived by her husband, Norman Richardson of Carrollton, KY; her daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Henry Maxwell of Carrollton, KY; her son, Jeff Richardson of Lexington, KY; and four adored grandchildren, Preston and Kya Maxwell, and Austin and Abygail Richardson.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Garland and Rosemary Hill Graves; her sister, Elizabeth Ann "Betty" Graves; her brothers, William Edward Graves, Harold Eugene Graves and James C. Graves. Her legacy of love, service, and kindness will remain in the hearts of all who knew her.
A Memorial Gathering will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2025, from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM, followed by a Celebration of Life at 1:00 PM at the English Christian Church, located at 2076 KY-227, Carrollton, KY 41008. Family and friends are invited to come together to honor Barbara's life and share in the memories she created.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given to the English Christian Church in care of the funeral home.
Arrangements have been entrusted with the Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home.
