Barbara Jean Riddle

Barbara Jean Riddle, 81, of Hope Mills, passed away on Friday, March 27, 2026, in her home surrounded by family.

Born September 1, 1944, in Cumberland County, Barbara was the daughter of the late, Murdock Elmore and Nina Bass Elmore. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, Bobby Riddle; son, David Young; grandchildren, Austin Riddle, David Young, Ronnie Young, and Alyssa Beorste; and several brothers and sisters.

Barbara is survived by six children, Judy Gessler and husband John, Ninita Young and husband Michael, Timothy Young, Thomas Young and wife Lisa, Farren Young and wife Tonia, and Bobby Riddle and wife Christy; five siblings, Margaret Yow, Robert Lee, Bernice Johnston, Jesse Lee, and Debbie Mahfouz; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Barbara will be remembered for her kind heart and the love she had for her family. Nothing was more important to her than that. She loved turning in any event, big or small, into a family affair. In addition to spending time with her family, she enjoyed playing bingo, watching baseball and racing (either in person or on TV), and simply sitting on her porch taking in the outdoors and keeping a watch on the neighborhood. She will be greatly missed by everyone who knew and loved her.
