Barbara Robertson Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by White Funeral Home - Lakeville on Feb. 5, 2026.
Barbara Jean Robertson, 84, passed away at home on February 4, 2026 after a
hard fought battle against colon cancer.

Barbara was born on December 12, 1941 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin. She
graduated from Mount Sinai School of Nursing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1963
and completed a BA from Metro State University in Minnesota in 1989. She and
her husband, Mark Robertson, shared over 62 years of marriage and a life filled
with love and fun.

She is preceded in death by her parents George and Dorothy Gjertson, her
brother Richard Gjertson and sister Susan Reader.

Barbara is survived by her beloved husband Mark Robertson; her children Tim
(Suzanne) Robertson, Jennifer (Dan) Markworth; her cherished grandchildren
Megan (Tanner) Robertson, Ben (Susan) Robertson, Madeline Robertson, Gabe
(Alivia) Markworth, and Eli (Tara) Markworth. She is survived by her siblings
Robert Gjertson, Mary Zwicker, Kathy (Robert) Crouch, David (Sue) Gjertson,
and Gary (Mary) Gjertson.

Barbara was above all a dedicated and proud Registered Nurse - even up until
two weeks before her death. She loved being a nurse and serving her patients
with fierce determination, always advocating for their best interests and an
uncanny sense of what they needed the most in their health journeys.

In her time away from work Barbara valued time with family including weekly
Sunday lunches. She steadfastly attended weekly church services and her faith
brought peace and renewal. She was an avid puzzler and baked the best pies
and the cookie jar was never empty. Barbara enjoyed quiet respite at her lake
cabin in northern Minnesota with Mark and family. She visited throughout the
year to relax, watch movies, take pontoon rides, play Gin Rummy, and drink a
Southern Comfort Manhattan or two.

Those who knew Barbara best describe her as direct, truthful, loving, strong, and
fierce. She was a strong woman and true role model. She routinely overcame
challenges, improved the lives of countless others and always remained true to
herself. Barbara led with both heart and conviction.

We will remember her as the best of us. She cared deeply for all and found great
fulfillment in service to others.

A funeral service to celebrate Barbara's life will be held on Thursday, February
12th, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation to begin one hour prior at House of Prayer
Lutheran Church, 7625 Chicago Ave, Minneapolis, MN 55423. A lunch will follow
the service at the church. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery in Mendota
Heights, MN.

The family requested that in lieu of flowers, that donations be made to the
Minnesota Nurses Association (MNA) for research grants and scholarships.
Contact MNAF, 345 Randolph Ave, Suite 200,St. Paul, MN 55102; (651)
