Barbara Sandwell

Barbara (Murphy) Sandwell, 85, of Bristol passed away on Saturday, July 09, 2011 at Brittany Farms, New Britain. She was the beloved wife of the late Stephen Sandwell. Barbara was born in Keene, NH, she was the daughter of the late Raymond and Mildred (Loiselle) Murphy; she resided in Manchester, CT, New Jersey and Bristol CT. Barbara was a member of St. Gregory's Church, Bristol where she taught catechism and held rosary groups in her home. She was employed by Travelers Insurance and SNET prior to her retirement. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law William and Lori Sandwell of Newington; her brother Raymond Murphy and his wife Barbara of Manchester; her sisters-in-law Sr. Winifred Sandwell of Lincoln, RI, Isabelle Glynn Nichols and Ruth Parcinski both Farmington and several nieces and nephews. Barbara's family wish to thank the staff of Middlewoods of Farmington and Brittany Farms, Station 3 for their compassion and care during her stay. Her funeral service will begin on Tuesday, July 12th, 9;00 a.m. from the Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, 10:00 a.m. at Holy Spirit Church. She will be laid to rest next to her husband in St. Bridget's Cemetery, Manchester. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
