To the family of Barbara Sargent, we send our sincere sympathy. Her obituary does not mention that she was the organist and choir director at Burnt Hills Baptist Church for many years. She sang in the choir, but then took organ lessons and eventually took over the duties and responsibilities of the organist and choir director. Those of us who participated in the choir really felt it was a calling and a way to use our talents to enhance the worship service. Barb chose music that was meaningful and appropriate for the services. Many of us were in the choir for many years, and formed wonderful, lasting relationships with each other. Barb helped foster those friendships. Our current organist noted that the filing cabinets which are filled with music books and sheet music are very well organized - all due to Barb spending a lot of time to make them so. It was part of her mission in life to add wonderful music to our worship services. We do remember her other talents - for sewing, knitting and crocheting, as she and others were part of White Cross - a group of ladies who provided items for children and babies as part of our mission outreach. I imagine she and her husband Doug were members of the church over 60 years - I am not sure, as I have only been there since 1974. She will be fondly remembered and lovingly missed by many.
