Barbara (Barb) Schroeder, age 90, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, with her loving family at her side.
She is survived by her children, Vince, Laura, Vicki, Jackie (Brent), and Angie (Boyd); her grandchildren, Leah, Rachael, Katie (Van), Jake, Justin, Ben, and Aaron; and her great-grandchildren, Brandon, Cody, Emmett, Olivia, and Ana. She is also survived by her sister, Karen and her children, Jenny, Joshua, and Jessica.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents, Wilbert and Dorothy, to whom she was deeply devoted throughout her life, her former husband, Jim, and her brother in-law, Fred.
Her faith was central to her life. Barb had a deep love of God and the Catholic Church and found great joy in parish life, including singing in the church choir.
Barb deeply loved her family and cherished time together, especially shared meals followed by games or cards. She loved to sit back and watch her family laughing and enjoying one another's company. She had a lifelong love of gardening and a deep appreciation for nature-especially flowers, plants, birds, and the animals that lived around her home-and she passed this love of the outdoors on to her children and grandchildren. Barb also adored her pets, Smokey, Tanner, Taffy, and Pi.
Barb enjoyed an active life filled with creativity and a love of learning. Her many crafts included wood carving, sewing, basketry, crewel work, drawing, and quilting. She also enjoyed puzzles, rock collecting, cooking, listening to music and audiobooks, and meeting and talking with people. She loved traveling throughout the United States, most recently to Minnesota's North Shore. She took a pilgrimage to Medjugorje, where she experienced God's loving grace. She climbed both Apparition Hill and Cross Mountain and was present during an apparition. Afterward, she toured religious and historic sites in Rome and Florence, Italy, and then traveled to Zurich and Lucerne, Switzerland, where she went to the top of the Jungfrau.
Above all, Barb was a kind and generous woman, a wonderful mother, and a devoted grandmother whose warmth, faith, and love touched many lives. She will be dearly missed.
A celebration of her life will be held on January 14, 2026, at Holy Family Church, 5900 W. Lake Street,
St. Louis Park, Minnesota 55416. Visitation will take place from 10:00–10:30 a.m., followed by Mass from 10:30–11:30 a.m. A private burial will be held with family at a future date.
