LIFE REFLECTIONS
Barbara Jean Scott, nee Robinson, born to the union of Arthur M. and Willie (nee Hunt) Robinson on November 11, 1943 in St. Louis, Missouri. She was the third child born to this union. She was preceded in death by her loving parents; her oldest brother, Charles E. Robinson; oldest sister, Viteola Jackson; nephew, Charles E. Robinson, Jr.; and sister-in-law, Edwina Brown.
She was the wife of Stanford R. Scott. Mrs. Scott was the devoted mother of two daughters, Teri A. Scott, and Crystal J. Scott. She was the affectionate grandmother of three granddaughters, Brittney R. Johnson, Brandy Liddell and Brianna L. (Travis) Langley. She was the proud and loving great grandmother of Elise Langley.
For 36 years, Mrs. Scott devoted her educational skills to educating students of East St. Louis School District #189. She began her educational career at Alta Sita Elementary School where she reached the level of Head Teacher. She culminated her career as an Elementary Supervisor.
With a compelling drive to serve God, Mrs. Scott was a lifelong member of St. John Missionary Baptist Church where she was baptized at an early age.
Mrs. Scott was a devoted member of a small group of friends called "Chic" (Bettye Johnson, Earline Turner, Katherine Buckley, Sandra Banks, and Alma Brooks) for 50 years. Actively involved in the community, she was a life member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. She served as president from 1996 through 1998. She was a member of the American Institute of Parliamentarians serving as the secretary/treasurer. She was an active member on the Comprehensive Mental Health Board for many years. She was also a member of the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commemorative Program Observance Celebration committee where she served for many years.
A lifelong resident of East St. Louis, Mrs. Scott was given her wings and transitioned to her Heavenly Father on Tuesday, February 28, 2023, in St. Louis, Missouri.
She leaves to cherish her memory: her husband; daughters; granddaughters; great granddaughter; brother Arthur M. (Vicie) Robinson of Moreno Valley, CA; sister, Carolyn Collier of Belleville, IL; special niece, Sharon R. Crockett of O'Fallon, IL; nephews, Norman Robinson of Clearwater, FL, Ronald (Angela) Robinson of Moreno Valley, CA, Maurice Jackson of Louisiana, Lamar Jackson, Sr. of Cahokia Heights, IL, Jeffrey Collier and Casey Collier of Belleville, IL; nieces, Kimberly (Andre) Oliver of Florissant, MO, Karen (Richard) Coleman of Venice, FL, Rachel Jackson and Linda Jackson of Cahokia Heights, IL, Muriel (Bobby) Dugan of East St. Louis, IL., Camilla (Marion) Deboe of Cahokia Heights, IL, Gloria Glover of Belleville, IL; Francella Jackson and Geraldine Jackson of Fairview Heights, IL and Brenda (Edward) Loper of Daytona Beach, FL; a host of great nieces, nephews and cousins; sisters-in-law: Rubye Neely of Berea, OH and Hazel Montgomery of Nashville, TN; god-sisters, Evelyn Evans of East St. Louis, IL and Carolyn Spencer of Chicago, IL; and a dear special friend, Loretta Brown.
